LIFE SKILLS PRO A Restorative Practice for Individuals, Families, Organizations & Communities

RESTORATION BEGINS BEFORE THE PROBLEM

What if the most important question isn't, "What's wrong with you?"
What if the better question is, "What were you intended to become?"

Life Skills Pro is a restorative practice committed to helping people, relationships, organizations, and communities move beyond simply managing problems toward understanding original design, root distortion, restoration, purpose, and flourishing.

We believe lasting restoration begins by looking deeper—and sometimes earlier—than the presenting problem.

We don't begin with what's wrong.
We begin with what was intended.

[BRING RESTORATION TO YOUR ORGANIZATION]

WE MAY HAVE BEEN STARTING IN THE WRONG PLACE

When something goes wrong, our natural response is to focus on the problem.

What happened?

Why did it happen?

How do we stop it from happening again?

Those are important questions—but they may not be the first questions. Whether we are addressing addiction, broken relationships, destructive behavior, organizational dysfunction, community division, or a person who simply feels stuck, the presenting problem tells us what has happened.

It does not necessarily tell us what was supposed to happen.

Restoration requires a reference point.

Before we can fully understand what has been broken, distorted, neglected, or lost, we must first ask:

What was this intended to be?

That is where restoration begins.

FIVE QUESTIONS THAT CHANGE THE CONVERSATION

The Restoration Paradigm invites us to approach people and problems through five foundational questions:

1. WHAT IS IT?

Before assigning labels, we seek to understand what is actually before us.

2. WHAT WAS IT INTENDED TO BECOME?

Restoration requires an understanding of purpose, capacity, healthy function, and potential.

3. WHAT DISTORTED IT?

Instead of stopping at symptoms, we investigate the experiences, beliefs, relationships, behaviors, environments, and systems contributing to the present condition.

4. WHAT IS REQUIRED TO RESTORE IT?

Restoration moves beyond diagnosis toward responsibility, renewal, development, reconciliation, and sustainable change.

5. WHAT BECOMES POSSIBLE WHEN IT FLOURISHES?

The goal is not merely the absence of dysfunction.

The goal is flourishing.

FROM PROBLEM MANAGEMENT TO RESTORATION

Many approaches begin here:

Problem → Diagnosis → Intervention → Management

The Restoration Paradigm asks us to widen the lens:

Original Design → Distortion → Root → Restoration → Flourishing

This does not require us to reject counseling, recovery, treatment, education, social services, organizational development, or other established helping practices.

It gives us another question to bring to them:

What are we restoring the person, relationship, organization, or community toward?

Without a vision of healthy function, intervention can become primarily about reducing symptoms.

Restoration seeks something more.

THE RESTORATION PARADIGM

The Restoration Paradigm provides an overarching framework for understanding change.

Within that framework are complementary approaches and applications.

THE GENESIS PRINCIPLE

Start with the original design.

Before beginning with dysfunction, deficiency, failure, or pathology, the Genesis Principle asks us to establish the reference point from which restoration can be understood.

You cannot fully understand what something has become until you consider what it was intended to be.

THE HIERARCHY ROOT APPROACH™

Look beneath the presenting problem.

Recurring problems often have roots deeper than the behavior we can see.

The Hierarchy Root Approach™ provides a framework for examining the underlying beliefs, relationships, structures, and distortions that continually reproduce harmful outcomes.

Rather than asking only:

"How do we stop this behavior?"

we also ask:

"What continues to produce it?"

RESTORATION IN PRACTICE

The Restoration Paradigm is designed to move from principle to practice.

BEYOND RECOVERY COACHING™

Recovery can interrupt a destructive cycle.

Restoration asks:

What comes next?

Beyond Recovery Coaching™ helps individuals move beyond stabilization toward identity, responsibility, stewardship, purpose, and constructive influence.

Sobriety is the start. Purpose is the goal.

RESTORATION GUIDES

Restoration should not belong only to professionals.

Restoration Guides are equipped to facilitate conversations that help people move beyond labels and symptoms toward deeper questions of design, distortion, responsibility, restoration, and flourishing.

This creates the possibility of restorative environments within churches, community organizations, recovery communities, families, and neighborhoods.

ORGANIZATIONAL & COMMUNITY RESTORATION

Organizations can become distorted just as individuals and relationships can.

Culture, leadership, power, communication, policies, and systems can either contribute to human flourishing or work against it.

The Restoration Paradigm provides leaders with a framework for asking:

What was this organization created to accomplish?

Where has its functioning become distorted?

What lies beneath the visible problems?

What would restoration require?

What could become possible if this organization flourished according to its purpose?

THERE IS MORE TO YOU THAN WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU

A person's present condition is real.

But it is not necessarily the complete definition of that person.

A cracked mirror is still a mirror.

A broken watch has not lost its purpose.

Damage may affect function without eliminating design.

That is why restoration begins with a fundamentally different question.

Not merely:

"What happened to you?"

But also:

"Who were you created to be?"

And from there:

"What becomes possible if restoration begins?"

BEGIN THE RESTORATION CONVERSATION

Whether you are an individual seeking direction, a recovery professional, counselor, ministry leader, community organization, nonprofit, agency, or organizational leader, the Restoration Paradigm offers another way to approach change.

Start before the problem.

Look beneath the symptom.

Restore toward purpose.

LET THE RESTORATION BEGIN.
